Resizing Cloud Servers has always been possible but required snapshots and some inevitable downtime; a frustrating experience if you need to resize because your app has suddenly become popular! We improved the situation last year with Volumes, our flexible and highly available block storage service, which included the ability to live resize Volume-based Cloud Servers.
I’m pleased to say that we’ve now fully rolled out the resize functionality so that all regular SSD Cloud Servers are now live-resizable too!
You can now simply increase the RAM, CPU and local storage – the new resource allocations are “hot plugged” and become available to the cloud server straightaway and in most cases you won’t even need to reboot.
